Inconel 625 has the addition of columbium
which acts with molybdenum to stiffen the alloy's matrix to provide strength
without heat treating for strength. A625 resists a wide range of severely
corrosive environments and is especially resistant to pitting and crevice
corrosion. It is very durable in strength and toughness in the temperature
range cryogenic to 2000 Degrees F. It also has excellent fatigue strength and
stress-corrosion tracking resistance to chloride ions.
Applications: Inconel 625 is used in the
chemical process industry, marine engineering, pollution control equipment and
nuclear industries.
